When I try to write a song, there is no game plan or agenda behind it. I usually just sit down at the piano, and play around until something starts to sound special... then I have to quickly write it down, before I forget it.

So in this way I suppose that the musical ideas are usually first to emerge. I invent my vocal line in a kind of improvisational fashion..with a hand held mike, so it's very relaxed and free form.

Laying down the proper vocal parts means going into a sound booth with a mike stand. This is one of my favourite things in the world, as you can be truly creative in this moment.

I thought I'd send you the lyrics to Dark Road. It will be the first track on the new album, and as such, works as a kind of introduction to the journey, so to speak...
